SGTC hires Destiny Walker as Crisp County Adult Education Instructor

South Georgia Technical College has hired Destiny Walker of Cordele as an Adult Education instructor for SGTC’s Adult Education/GED department on the Crisp County Center, announced SGTC President Dr. John Watford.  She will be reporting to Vice President of Operations Karen Werling and SGTC Dean of Adult Education Tracy Israel.

   In her new role with the South Georgia Tech Adult Education Department, Walker will be responsible for providing instruction in academic areas (reading, writing, English, mathematics) for GED preparation, intake, assessment, recruitment, retention, student recognition, counseling, staff development, and the achievement of the departmental goals and objectives.

South Georgia Technical College has consistently led the state in the number of students who transitioned into college after successfully completing their GED and Walker will also be tasked with promoting adult education programs to public and private organizations and the general public.

Walker has been working as a teacher at Crisp County Primary School since 2022. She also has experience as a Georgia Department of Family and Children’s Service Case Manager and worked at the Pinecrest Childcare Center as a teacher.

    She has a Bachelor’s of Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Social Work and Sociology from Albany State University.  She is currently attending Albany State University for a MSW degree.  Walker also has an AAS in Early Childhood Education from Albany State University.  University.
