At the end of June the Crisp Regional Hospital had a change of board chairman after 7 years. Dr. Pannell a well known doctor and surgeon in our community stood in as interim chairman which would end up lasting 7 years. Pannell started his medical career with Crisp Regional 47 years ago and was one of the first surgical specialist that was residency trained within Crisp Regional. He was born and raised in Cordele and after he completed his education he came back to serve the community with his skills. CEO of Crisp Regional, Steve Gautney said that, “they are not there for themselves but for the purpose of building up a hospital that can serve others.” Pannell did just that with his impact on helping create what the hospital is today and implementing programs within Crisp County Athletics. Gautney said, “in a way this is the house that Pannell built.”

Dr. Pannell has now stepped down as board chairman and Dr. Salami will be taking on this role. Salami was an OBGYN for 25 years and retired back around 2015-2016. He is another well known doctor in our community and they look forward to the great things to come in the future.
