Crews to dismantle old I-75 overpass at Ga. Hwy 27 interchange this week

Georgia DOT crews have completed the construction of a new overpass over Interstate 75 at the Georgia 27 interchange in Dooly County, and this week they will dismantle and remove the old interstate overpass. The old overpass and its exit ramps have been closed to traffic following the opening of the new structure, but construction teams will be in the immediate Interstate 75/Georgia 27 interchange area during the demolition.
The crews will tackle the work in the southbound lanes during the overnight hours from 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jul. 9 to 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jul. 10, 2019. They’ll finish in the northbound lanes during the overnight shift from 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jul. 10 to 6:00 a.m. Thursday, Jul. 11, 2019. These dates are subject to change pending inclement weather.
Motorists are urged to watch for signage in advance of the work zone and in the possibility of a lane closure at the site. Drivers should slow their speeds and be alert around the crews and their equipment.

- Southbound lanes: from 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jul. 9 to 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jul. 10, 2019
- Northbound lanes: from 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jul. 10 to 6:00 a.m. Thursday, Jul. 11, 2019
