One person is dead and another in critical condition at a Macon hospital after a two-car wreck on I-75 Wednesday in Dooly County.
The injured person is from Cordele, although no further identifying information, such as name, date of birth, or address, is available at this time. It is currently unknown where the person who was killed resided.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, three people in a 2015 Chrysler 300 were parked on the left-hand emergency lane of I-75 northbound near Vienna at around 5:50 Wednesday afternoon. Two of the people were standing outside the Chrysler and the third was sitting partially inside the vehicle when a driver from Madison, Ga. in a 2012 Ford Focus struck the Chrysler and the two people standing outside it.
The third person, also from Cordele, escaped the crash unharmed. The driver of the Ford Focus also avoided injury.
Near the same time and in the same vicinity, a wreck involving multiple cars and injuries on the southbound lanes of I-75 also happened. No further information about that accident is available at this time.
