BUTLER— The Dooly County Bobcats played their second game in a five day span on Friday night when they traveled to Butler to take on region opponents, the Vikings of Taylor County (4-4).

Already having defeated Crawford County last Monday night (October 15), the Bobcats were facing a tough task in trying to win two football games in one week. Taylor County wore the Bobcats down for a good portion of the game and ultimately won by the final score of 47-19.

Bobcat quarterback Bo Lawson played a part in all three of the Dooly County touchdowns on the night with two scores through the air on 10-13 passing for 208 yards, and one rushing score to go with 58 yards on eight carries.

Shamon Zanders was on the receiving end of both of the passing scores and finished the contest with eight catches for 189 yards to go with the two touchdowns. Malik Mcghee pitched in on offense with nine carries for 28 yards and one catch for 13 yards, while Jarquavious Westbrook caught two passes in the game for 26 yards. The Dooly offense had two turnovers on the night, one fumble and one interception.

On defense, Javarese Black was credited with 27 tackles (10 solo and 17 assisted) on the Maxpreps stat sheet for the contest to lead the Bobcats. Jeff Felton finished the night with 16 total tackles and combined with Curt Hawkins for a sack during the contest, while Jaboris Hicks had 12 total tackles to go with a forced fumble. Brandon Holmes had 11 total stops on the night, and Hawkins finished with seven total.

Other defensive contributors on the night for Dooly were: Rashad Lucas – seven tackles and one forced fumble, Markell Morgan- six tackles, Tray Haugabrook- four tackles, David Grant- four tackles and a blocked field goal, Justin Johnson- three tackles, Deon King- three tackles, one fumble recovery and a pass breakup, Fred Perry- three tackles, Javon Dexter- three tackles, Amarion Almond- two tackles, Eric Ivory- one fumble recovery.

The loss to Taylor County put Dooly at 4-4 overall on the season and 3-2 in region play. The most recent GHSA class A playoff power rankings have Dooly at number 19.

Up next on the schedule for Dooly County is an important home game against Manchester High School (5-3), which is just one spot ahead of the Bobcats in the rankings. Kickoff is scheduled for Friday night in Vienna at 7:30 p.m.
