ROBERTA—The Dooly County High School football team was finally able to play their region game against Crawford County on Monday night.

The contest was originally scheduled as a home game for the Bobcats, but the effects of Hurricane Michael forced the Dooly administration to move the game to Crawford County. The final result was a 44-19 win for Dooly County in some rare high school Monday night football action.

Dooly senior quarterback Bo Lawson was again the catalyst for the Bobcats on the night with six total touchdowns in the game. He completed six out of nine passes for 198 yards and four touchdowns, and also ran the ball just four times for a total of 145 yards and two touchdowns, including a 73-yard run.

Emaje Son caught one of the touchdowns and was Dooly’s leading receiver on the night with two catches for 87 yards. Malik Mcghee was another crucial part of the offense on the night with seven carries for 61 yards and a rushing touchdown to go along with a 38-yard touchdown reception from Lawson. Other contributors on offense for the Bobcats versus Crawford were: Shamon Zanders – 38-yard touchdown reception, Jarquavious Westbrook – 21-yard touchdown reception, Reggie Smith – four rushes for 23 yards, one catch for 14 yards and one pass completion to Lawson for 29 yards, Vito Evans – three rushes for 17 yards, Edgerrin Almond – three completions on six pass attempts for 18 yards.

Rashad Lucas had a big night for the Bobcats on the defensive side of the ball, as he was credited with five total tackles, three sacks and a pass breakup. Other big defensive contributors for Dooly on the night were: Ra’quavious Billings – five total tackles and a blocked field goal, Jeff Felton – five total tackles and one sack, Tatravion Haughabrook – four tackles and an interception, Malik Burns – three tackles and one sack, Javarese Black – three tackles, one sack and two pass breakups, Cortavious Coachman – two tackles and one sack, Javon Dexter – one sack, and Willie Cobb – one interception.

On special teams, Smith had a kick return for 33 yards and Markell Morgan ran one back for 35 yards. Smith also had a punt return for 62 yards in the game, while Haughbrook returned a punt for 37 yards.

The Bobcats are now 4-3 overall with a 3-1 record in region play on the season after Monday night’s win over Crawford County.

The Monday night contest gives the Bobcats a short week to prepare for their next game against the Taylor County Vikings (3-4, 2-2 in region) on Friday night, but Dooly Head Coach Corey Jarvis says the Bobcats are going to do what they can with the short preparation time that comes from playing two games in one week.

“We just have to make it work, do what we need to do to get ready for Friday,” said Coach Jarvis. “We are just trying to go through the week as normal as possible, doing everything normally just cutting out a day. So just one day of preparation that won’t be used.”

Dooly County moved to number 15 in the most recent GHSA class A playoff rankings and Taylor County was ranked 33. The Bobcats won last season’s matchup against the Vikings in Vienna 48-41. Kickoff is set for Friday night at 7:30 in Butler.
