James Berry Allison

CORDELE – James Allison, 83, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015 in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Arabi Cemetery.
Mr. Allison was born in Crisp, County to the late Stark Allison and the late Willie Berry Allison. He is preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Shirley Jean Allison; his son, Anthony Chris Allison; and his brothers: Coney Allison, Clifford Allison and William Allison.
Mr. Allison was a member of Wenona Baptist Church and the Chick-Fil-A Coffee Club. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and traveling. He also loved Crisp County and was knowledgeable on all of its history. He especially had a great love of family as well.
Mr. Allison is survived by his wife: Nellie Allison of Cordele; his daughter: Vicki (Jeffrey) Hurst of Savannah; his brother: Kenneth (Carrie Mae) Allison of Cordele; his sister: Nettie (Clarence) James of Jacksonville, Fla.; his granddaughter: Michelle (Henry) Myers of Savannah ; his great-grandson: Henry Myers, IV, of Savannah; and his step-children: Nell (Wayne) Stephens of Cordele, Ricky (Pat) Manders of Cordele, Bobby (Teresa) Manders of Cordele and Elaine (David) Adkins of Pine Mountain, Ga.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to Wenona Baptist Church, 161 Mathis Road, Cordele, Ga. 31015.
