Jack Roger Hobbs

CORDELE — Funeral services for Jack Roger Hobbs, 74, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2018 in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Rev. Larry Wilbanks and Eli Mixon officiated the service. A prerecorded eulogy by Blake Hobbs was also played. Burial followed at Sunnyside Cemetery. Jack was transported to the cemetery on his lawn mower trailer, along with his mower, by his truck driven by his grandson, Jackson, and accompanied by his all his grandchildren.
Marcene Freeman played before and after the service. She also accompanied Jeff Presley as he sang “Beulah Land.” ”You Raise Me Up” and “I Am Bound for That City” were played.
Pallbearers were: Jackson Musselwhite, Griffin Musselwhite, Daniel Escobar, James Gilliam, William Turner, Gary Brock, Ruben Collins and Rob Tyler
Jack Roger died at his residence Tuesday, June 5, 2018. He was born in Cordele to Roy Lee Hobbs and Erlene Martin Hobbs. He was preceded in death by his wife Elette Calhoun Hobbs. He was a retired truck driver for Lasco. He also started Hobbs Lawn Service which continues today by his son Blake. He was a member of Penia Baptist Church and a member of the National Guard for six years. He also was a coach for the Little League and Ladies Softball.
He is survived by his children: Pride (Clint) Musselwhite, Blake (Jenna) Hobbs and Justin (Kelsey) Hobbs; his brother: Ronnie (Judy) Hobbs; and his grandchildren: Lauren Musselwhite, Jackson Musselwhite, Griffin Musselwhite, Mickensey Hobbs, Madison Hobbs and Ava Elette Hobbs all of Cordele.
