Funeral service for Frances Allen Spires of Cordele will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2018 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. The committal service will follow in the Sunnyside Cemetery.  The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Frances, 93, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018 at Fellowship Home of Cordelia Manor.  Born in Macon, she was one of four children born to the late Samuel Herbert and Viola Smith Allen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan R. Spires, Sr. and siblings, Miron H. Allen, Henry Hoover Allen and Irene Fletcher. Frances was a teller (RET) with Cordele Banking Company. A member of Cordele First Baptist Church, she was always active in church activities including the Joy Sunday School Class and the Senior Adult Choir. She loved her family and enjoyed her time with them, especially her grandchildren. Frances is survived by her children, a daughter and her husband, Karen and Edwin Childree of Titusville, FL and a son and his wife, Dan and Sarian Spires of Cordele; two grandchildren Jason Spires and his wife, Shelley, and Matthew Spires; three great-grandchildren, Kaleb Spires, Sara Beth Spires and Kendall Spires; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Allen of Lehigh Acres, FL.
