CORDELE- Long-time Cordele native, 71-year-old Betty Nipper passed away on Monday, April 30 in a car accident at approximately 6:57 p.m. Nipper was driving her white 2014 Honda Accord north on GA 257 with another occupant in the vehicle, and was attempting to make a left turn into a private drive when an eighteen-wheeler struck the driver’s side of her car. The crash happened in the northbound lane of GA 257. The force of the impact pushed Nipper’s car past the private drive and the semi-truck came to rest in the northbound lane. The driver of the eighteen-wheeler, Michal Elias, 75 of Prescott, Arizona, and the other occupant of Nipper’s vehicle survived the collision.
