Crisp County Fire Rescue participates in GEMA Rescue Specialist Course

CORDELE- Crisp County Sheriff’s Office hosted a Rescue Specialist Training course at the Law Enforcement Center on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Emergency responders from Crisp County Fire and Rescue, Crisp County Sheriff’s Office, as well as Macon-Bibb Emergency Management were in attendance for the training course.
The Rescue Specialist Course is a combination of lecture, discussion and hands-on field experience taught over a 16-hour class designed to prepare emergency responders to assist victims of the following events:
- Wilderness Rescue (Compass, Maps, and Grid searches)
- Rope Rescue (High and Low Angle)
- Water Rescue
- Vehicle Rescue
- Machinery Rescue
- Trench Rescue
- Structural Collapse Rescue
- Mine and Tunnel Rescue
- Tower Rescue
- Confined Space Rescue
- Helicopter Rescue
- Animal Rescue
The Course was provided free of charge by Georgia Emergency Management Agency.
“The Rescue Specialist class touches base on all the disciplines of rescue and it was a good refresher course,” said Crisp County Fire Rescue Chief Jonathan Windham. “It will help us be prepared for whatever the world throws at us.”
