Homer Lee Conner was born on April 23, 1923 in Pitts, GA. He passed away on March 28, 2018 in Pitts. His parents were Green Henry (Babe) Conner and Elizabeth Bruce (Lizzie) Conner. He was one of twelve children. He was married to Wilhelmina Mullis Conner for almost 71 years until her death.

He is survived by his son, Homer Lee (Lanna) Conner, Jr., daughters, Maxine (Furman) Peebles, and Kathy (Bruce) Jackson all of Pitts and daughter-in-law, Robin Conner of Pitts. He had nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Home Lee served in the United States Navy during WWII. He enlisted in December 1943 for two years. He received the Presidential Unit Citation to the Ship U.S. Sangamon for nine operations. He was a lifetime farmer and was presented the Soil Conservation Farmer of the Year in 1978. He was owner/operator of Conner’s Service Station in Pitts for 35 years. Homer Lee was a former member of the Wilcox County Board of Commissioners having served from 1968-1999. Many of these years as Chairman of the Board. He was on the Board of Directors at Rochelle State Bank until his death. He was a member of the Wilcox County American Legion Post #71. He was a member of Pitts Baptist Church, which he attended regularly until his death. His love was for his family and that included brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews as well as his immediate family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Babe and Lizzie Conner, his wife, Wilhelmina Mullis Conner, Son, William Paul Conner, grandson, Homer Lee Conner III, sisters, Gertrude Wilson, Ozela Conner, Gladys Goodman, Mattie Conner and Paulette McDonald, brothers Albert Conner, Thomas C. (T.C.) Conner, John Greene Conner, Walter Conner, Dewey Conner and Marion Conner.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 31, 2018 in the Pitts Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour before the service from 1-2 pm in the church. Rev. Doug James and Rev. Royce Freeman will officiate. Interment will be in the family plot in the Pitts Cemetery.
