CORDELE — Graveside funeral services for Janye Kate Allen Miller, 78, were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at Bronwood Cemetery in Bronwood, Ga. Ron Newsome officiated the service and Mrs. Miller’s brother George Allen gave the eulogy. “How Great Thou Art” and “Me and Jesus” were also played.
Mrs. Miller died Saturday morning, Jan. 13, 2018 at the home of her daughter. She was born in Dawson, Ga. to John H. Allen and Mamie Lee Battle Allen. She is preceded in death by her siblings: John H. Allen, Jr., Rosalee Allen Ray, William Cullen Allen, Robert Allen and an infant sister. She is also preceded in death by the father of her children, Carroll Kenneth Miller, Sr.
She was a charter member of Northern Heights Baptist Church and remained a member of the Baptist faith. She was a food service supervisor for the Georgia Department of Corrections and was also known by her family for her cooking talents. In her spare time, she enjoyed listening to Gospel music, watching Gaither videos and Disney movies. She also was a dedicated Atlanta Braves fan.
She is survived by her children: Carroll Kenneth Miller, Jr. of Vienna, Tanna Miller (John) Blankenship of Grove Town, Ga., Lynda Kay Miller of Dawson and Jennifer Miller (Shell) Horne of Cordele; her siblings: George Allen of Odessa Tex. and Edna Mathis of Cordele; her six grandchildren: Ashley Miller, Jamie (Emily) Miller, Ian Blankenship, Elijah Horne, Marley Horne and Glory Miller; and her great-grandchildren: Annabelle Miller and Everly Miller.
