The Crisp County Recreation Departments 2018 basketball season got off to a grand start on Saturday. The invocation was given by Caleb Paul. Special guests, Advisory board member Harry Fox and Crisp County Commissioner Larry Felton gave some encouraging remarks to the packed crowd in the Gym. Then Miss Ayana Peterson gave an excellent rendition of the national anthem.
In game action the 7 and 8 year old Wildcats defeated the Hurricanes 28-3. Scoring: Wildcats, Epps 3, Wood 4, Holly 5, Brown 11, Harris 5. Hurricanes Porter 1, Lofton 1, Woodall 1.
In 9 and 10 year old action it was the Hurricanes 21 and the Wolfpack 21. Scoring: Hurricanes, Daniels 11, Mckenzie 2, Parker 6, Fox 2. Wolfpack. Scoring: Dixon 11, Denton 8, Johnson 2…
Yellow Jackets 15 and Gators 10. Scoring Jackets: Jones 2. Johnson 2, Oliver 6, Clark 2, Childs 3. Gators Scoring: Clark 2, Barron 1, Walls 1, Smothers 2, Lawton 4.
In the under 12 division the Yellow Jackets out lasted the Hurricanes 20 to 15. Scoring Hurricanes: Jones 9, Smith 2, White 4. Jackets Scoring : Smith 8, Merrell 6, Dawson 2, Oliver 4.
The game between the Bruins and Bulldogs saw the Bruins on top 19-14. Bruins Scoring: Paul 6, Lewis 2, Fox 4, Sims 3, Williams 4. Bulldog scoring: Colbert 2, Reese 1, Johnson 11.
The final game of the day saw the 12u Gators running off with a 29-18 win over the Tigers. The Tigers scoring: Alexander 1, Walker 12, Smith 3 and Davis 2. Gators scoring: Armstrong 1, Deriso 18, Gordon 2, and Harvey 8.
