A memorial service for Billy Wendell Martin of Cordele will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2017 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. The family will receive friends prior to the service Sunday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Billy  passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.  He was born in Cordele to the late Jack Martin and Gertrude Elizabeth Cobb Martin. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Cecelia Dockweiler Martin and siblings, Aaron Martin and Ann Martin Carter. A veteran of the United States Army, Billy retired from Harris Press and Shear after over 40 years of service. He loved life and his family but his passion was building and designing cabinets in his shop, B&B Cabinets. He also loved sitting on his dock and just enjoying the peace and quiet of the river. He is survived by his daughter and her husband, Debra and Richard Burnette of Cordele; three grandchildren and their spouses, Matthew Burnette of Athens, Michael and Ashley Burnette of Cordele and  Megan and Brandon Fields of Rabun Gap; four great-grandchildren Janie Mae Burnette, Michael Gauge Burnette, Cecelia Elise Fields and Hollis Armeita Fields; three brothers and their wives, Bobby and Tammy Martin of Leesburg, Jackie and Sharon Martin of Texas and Jerry and Linda Martin of Cordele; and his special friend, Marilyn Underwood of Conyers.
