CORDELE — On Wednesday morning, the State Board of Pardons and Paroles held their monthly meeting, this time not in it’s traditional Atlanta location, but rather in Cordele.

In a quick meeting that saw several Crisp County public officials such as District Attorney Brad Rigby and Sheriff Billy Hancock be recognized in  front of the board. Also recognized was current board member Jacqueline Bunn, a graduate of Crisp County High School in 1980. Bunn was recognized by Chairman James W. Mills for her service of more than two decades in the legal field as a lawyer and now working for the state.

A quick meeting was had with the Director’s Report and a proposed change to board policies.

The State Board of Pardons and Paroles will return to Crisp County on October 17 for Victim’s  Visitor Day. This day will give individuals across the state that have been a victim of a crime to meet with board members and discuss the parole status of the offender and any details they believe the Parole Board member should consider before making a decision on that person’s parole.

The event is set to take place at Blackshear Place, located at 1001 Blackshear Rd in Cordele at 9:30 a.m.
