Standing true to his promise to make operations within the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office transparent to the public, Sheriff Billy Hancock and his deputies held an Open House event on Saturday, March 18. The efficiently, organized event was very well attended by many in the community, and Sheriff Hancock was pleased with the turnout.
Upon arriving at the Crisp County Law Enforcement and Detention Center, separate groups of people were greeted by Sheriff Hancock, who informed them of CCSO’s daily operations and escorted them into an impressive Control Room, the heart of the center. From here, the center is fully monitored and controlled and as adamantly stated by Hancock, “Under no circumstances will unauthorized entry be allowed into the Control Room.”
After an informative rundown of the Control Room, the group walked over to the prisoner intake area, where Major Joey Arzola was waiting to escort them into the secure rooms used for incoming violators. Arzola thoroughly explained the step-by-step procedures taken to process inmates, to include ensuring they have no hidden contraband, proper securing of their personal belongings, mandated destaffing and delousing showers, and issuance of inmate wear/necessities.
The group was shown the inmate laundry room, where approved inmates provide laundry service to the center using machines that are infused with detergents as needed for efficiency and prevention of inmates access to those substances.
