Heather Cox, a recent graduate of South Georgia Technical College’s Commercial Truck Driving program, is now applying her skills in a full-time role as a mechanic with Flint Energies in Warner Robins.

Cox’s duties at Flint Energies include maintaining and repairing fleet vehicles, trailers, and excavators, as well as test-driving and making mobile repairs. Her mechanical abilities are backed by years of preparation. She began training while attending Northside High School in Warner Robins through dual enrollment at Central Georgia Technical College, where she completed an automotive program. After graduation, she continued her education at Lincoln Tech in Nashville, TN, earning a certificate in Automotive and High Performance.

Her combined expertise in automotive technology and commercial truck driving positions her as a valuable asset in an essential industry. As a woman in a traditionally male-dominated field, Cox represents the growing diversity in transportation and fleet maintenance. Her ability to work efficiently and as part of a team has made her a valuable asset to her organization.

Cox credits her instructor, Nicholas Edwards, and SGTC’s hands-on training for giving her the tools she needed to reach the next level. With her career accelerating, she hopes to empower more women to consider opportunities in transportation and mechanics.
