Sharon Lynn Pitts, age 74, of Cordele passed away at Atrium Health Hospital, on January 9, 2025. Lynn was the daughter of the late James Troy Pitts and Melba Loaine Gordon Pitts. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Victor Pitts. Lynn was a dedicated educator. She began teaching in the classroom, and at retirement was serving as an Assistant Principal at Crisp County High School. Lynn had given her life to 50 years of educational service to this community. She was very honored to be a 40-year member of the Alpha Delta Kappa International Sorority of Women Educators, and she took pride in this accomplishment. She held the office of President of the Local Chapter, Alpha Theta. Lynn lived a wonderful and fulfilling life while forming long-time friendships with fellow educators. Even though education was her passion, she loved to travel and to shop. Her family and family land were very important to her and she could remember intricate details of family history. Story telling was obviously passed down through her family as Lynn said her dad always told interesting stories to family and friends, especially of her dad’s time serving in the military. Lynn loved her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, and was a member of Hatley Baptist Church. She is survived by beloved cousins, Glen Pitts and his wife Michelle, and James Allen Pitts, all of Sycamore, GA, and many more extended cousins. A memorial service honoring Lynn will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:00 am, at Hatley Baptist Church in Crisp County. There will be a visitation at the church beginning one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am. A section will be reserved for Alpha Theta members to honor Lynn.
