Thurman McGinnis Jr. of Cordele passed away Monday, November 25, 2024, at Crisp Regional Hospital. He was 67. Born in Cordele, Thurman was the son of the late Thurman McGinnis and Mary Ann Brannon McGinnis. He was also preceded in death by a son, David Keith McGinnis and a brother, William Allen McGinnis. He was retired from Lasco Manufacturing and a member of the Baptist Faith. Thurman loved NASCAR and watching westerns on TV. For many years he had been very much involved in Little League Baseball, in coaching and whatever needs that he could fill for the kids. He still enjoyed watching them play and was there to root them on. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially the beach and fishing. Thurman is survived by his wife of  27 years, Deloris Gifford McGinnis of Cordele; four children, Michael McGinnis (Shannon) of Cordele, J.T. McGinnis (Crystal) of Abbeville, Kevin McGinnis (Billi) of Dubuque, IA, and Emilio Banda (Amber) of Cordele; four brothers, Bobby McGinnis (Jane) of Tennessee, Jimmie McGinnis (Robin), James McGinnis (Michelle), and Jody McGinnis (Leslie), all of Cordele; a sister, Barbara Peeples of Elko; and 14 grandchildren, Keith McGinnis, Drayton McGinnis, Abbey McGinnis, Sawyer McGinnis, Landon McGinnis, Ava McGinnis, Nova Banda, Lilly Banda, Mary McGinnis, Mason McGinnis, Lennon McGinnis, Barrington McGinnis, Gus McGinnis and Davi McGinnis. A celebration of his life will be held at noon, 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2024, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services.
