George Lloyd Pass of Cordele, Georgia, age 96, died peacefully on October 2, 2024 at Brookdale Ormond Beach Assistive Living, in Ormond Beach, Florida.
He was born on October 17, 1927, in Seville, Georgia to the late Lloyd and Ora Pass. In 1948, he married the love of his life, Helen Harris, to whom he was married until the time of her death in May, 2016. They were the epitome of a true love story for their entire marriage which was vibrant and strong for over 68 years. Over the course of their life together, they enjoyed many opportunities to engage with family and travel with wonderful friends. Mr. Pass lived in Cordele, Georgia for most of his life. He was a life long member of First Methodist Church of Cordele, as well as the Kiwanis Club, the Lions Club, and Pine Hills Country Club. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Japan after World War II. He was the founder and business owner of Pass Furniture for over 50 years. An avid hunter and fisherman in his early life, he later moved to the world of golf to spend time on the golf course with his son, Mickey. A man of keen insight and wisdom, he was a great teacher of life’s lessons. Once when he bought a new truck, Nancy’s dogs were trying to get in the bed of the truck; they didn’t make it and left scratches down the side. Nancy was distraught and crying to which he responded, “Don’t worry Nancy; it’s only a truck.” Clearly, “don’t sweat the small stuff” was a cornerstone of his amazing and very full life! Survivors left to cherish his memory include his son, Michael Pass (MiMi), St Simons Island, Georgia; daughter, Nancy Pass Langlois, Ormond Beach, Florida; granddaughters, Meghan Langlois, Ocala, Florida; Emily Langlois, Ormond Beach, Florida; brother, Leon Pass, Cordele, Georgia. Additionally, he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Harris Pass, brothers Walter Pass, James Pass, Orien Pass, and his former daughter in law, Susan Pass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105. A private family memorial will be scheduled at a later date. |
