VIENNA — James E. “Jimmy” Kelly, Sr., age 79, of 210 Church Street, Vienna, died Friday, April 15, 2016, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Born in Cordele, he was the son of the late Grady Kelly and Maxine Fortenberry Kelly. Jimmy served 33 years as a Vienna City Councilman and was also Mayor Pro-tem. He also served as a school bus driver for 34 years. He was a member of Vienna Church of God and had worked as a meat cutter at Stephens Super Foods.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne H. Kelly of Vienna; his daughter, Susan McNeese of Vienna; his son, Jim Kelly (Janet) of Kathleen; his sister, Barbara Mays of Vienna; his brother, Tommy Kelly of Cordele; his grandchildren, Chase McNeese, Zach McNeese, Amelia Kelly and Carson Kelly.
Funeral services will be at 2 PM Monday, April 18 in Vienna Church of God with interment in Vienna City Cemetery. Rev. Kenny Croft and Mrs. Donna Stripling will officiate.
