It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Doster, aged 84, on the evening of Monday, July 1, 2024, at Crisp Regional Hospital. Funeral services to honor Richard’s life were held at Pinehurst Global Methodist Church on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 11 a.m., with Reverend Freddy Hogg officiating. Following the service, Richard was laid to rest at City of Pinehurst Cemetery.

Rev. Gary Fowler, guitarist, accompanied himself as he sang “In the Garden” and Anne Greer, pianist, played “It Is Well.” Honoring Richard by serving as his pallbearers were: David Herrington, Keith Christmas, Jack Doster, Bruce Davis, Mike Davis, Junior Collier, and Dwain Hobbs.

Richard was born in Macon, Georgia, to the late Norman Doster and the late Mildred Scarborough Doster. He was a member of Pinehurst Global Methodist Church and spent his life working as a farmer. Richard pursued his education at ABAC and the University of Georgia, earning a degree in Agronomy. Additionally, he was a proud lifelong member of the National Rifle Association. Richard is preceded in death by his son, Russell “Russ” Doster.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Hobbs Doster, of Pinehurst; his sons, Steve Doster and wife Gwenette, of Pinehurst and Ryan Doster and wife Julie, of Perry, Georgia; his brother, Norman Doster, and wife Barbara, of Norcross, Georgia; his grandchildren, Abbey Doster and Jack Doster, both of Perry, Georgia; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Richard’s memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
