 Keeping instructors and students warm, cool, and comfortable has been Timothy Morgan’s mission as the Facilities Manager for the South Georgia Technical College’s Crisp County Center for the past five years.  He announced recently he will retire from his full-time position effective June 30, 2024.

   “I really enjoy coming to work every day,” said Morgan.  “The people I work with have become like family to me.  I feel like it is my responsibility to make sure I keep everything operating and clean, so the instructors and the students can be comfortable doing their jobs.  I also like to go around and build a rapport with the instructors and students to see how I can help them or be of service.”

   The South Georgia Technical College Crisp County Center faculty and staff will be recognizing Morgan for his hard work and dedication at a special retirement reception on the Crisp County Center Campus on Monday, June 24 at 4 p.m. in the LaPorte auditorium.  Family and friends are invited to attend.

    “You might say my family has a unique history with South Georgia Tech,” laughed Morgan, who is a graduate of the SGTC Air Conditioning Technology program.  “My wife and two of my three daughters all attended South Georgia Tech and my oldest daughter also worked here for a while.  So, this really is like a second home to my family.”

   Morgan earned his Air Conditioning Technology diploma from South Georgia Technical College in 2019.  His instructor, Mike Enfinger, is the one he credits for getting him to apply to SGTC for the Facilities Manager position.

   “Mike Enfinger was my instructor, but he has also been a great friend,” said Morgan.  “I give him all the credit for encouraging me to apply for this job and helping me gain additional skills to be able to do everything that this position requires.”

   Morgan already had over 31 years of work experience in related fields before accepting the position with SGTC.  He had worked as the Final Finish Leadman for Homestead Homes where he worked for over 18 years.  Then he spent 13 and a half years as Maintenance Mechanic for the Cordele Housing Authority.  All of those skills along with the newly added heating and air certification from SGTC made the facilities manager position a great fit for the next chapter in his work life.

   “This has been a great experience and I am honored to have been a part of this great institution,” said Morgan.  “I have really enjoyed working with the administration, faculty, staff, and students.”

   In addition to working to “keep instructors warm, cool, and comfortable” at SGTC, Morgan also recently celebrated 30 years as a lay pastor.  He has been the pastor at Inaha Baptist Church in Sycamore for the past 10 years.  “I feel like I have been blessed to be able to work with my hands, heart, and mind in my careers,” said Morgan, who added he had the best of both worlds because it would be impossible to separate the skills he uses as a pastor from those he applies on his SGTC job to make things better for everyone in the building.

   Morgan and his wife, Regina, have been married for 46 years.  They have three grown daughters and 10 grandchildren.
