Update: Agency assist with shots fired in the City of Cordele

Crisp County Sheriff’s Office
On Sunday, June 09, 2024, around 1:20 A.M., Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputies were requested to assist the Cordele Police Department in disbursing a large crowd in the
7th Street South area. While Deputies were on the scene, they heard several shots fired in the area. A Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputy witnessed a male subject fire a pistol several times in the air.
Rakim Jackson, a 36-year-old male from Cordele, Georgia, is charged with Reckless Conduct. Jackson was taken into custody and transported to Crisp County Detention Center without incident.
During the arrest, there were additional reports of other shots fired in the area, but no additional arrests weremade. However, this is an active and ongoing investigation, Crisp County Sheriff’s Office and Cordele
Police Department are continuing efforts to identify other shooters involved. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crisp County Sheriff’s Office (229-276-2690) or Cordele Police Department (229- 276-2921).
Deputies were called to two residences near the incident, where bullet holes and shell casings were discovered. The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office warns citizens about the dangers of firing gunshots into the air, as falling bullets can be as lethal as directly fired ones. Firing gunshots in the air poses severe risks to innocent bystanders, including children.

Crisp County Sheriff’s Office Announces Additional Arrests in June 9, 2024 Cordele Shooting Incident
The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two additional individuals in connection with the shots fired incident that occurred in the City of Cordele on Sunday, June 9, 2024.
- Kanorius Woodson, a 21-year-old male from Cordele, Georgia, is charged with Party to a Crime of Aggravated Assault.
- A 15-year-old from Cordele, Georgia, is charged with Party to a Crime of Aggravated Assault.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Both the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office and the Cordele Police Department are diligently working to identify other shooters involved in this incident.
