Easter has come and gone again. Here is a condensed and non-exhaustive article concerning some of the types and His fulfillment of these things.
Christ was crucified on Passover. Passover was the 14th day of the month Nisan of the Hebrew religious calendar. The Hebrew calendar is by the lunar cycle and not the solar cycle. This is why the Easter holiday varies from March to April. Passover was the slaying of the lamb and the application of the blood on the doorposts that provided redemption for God’s elect people. The blood of the substitute was the satisfaction of the judgment of death required by God for redemption. We call this day “Good Friday”. 1 Cor.5:7…For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us. The wonderful truth is the fact that in Lev.23:5, it is called the Lord’s Passover because God provided himself a lamb.
On the 16th day of the same month was the offering of the firstfruits. The wave sheaf, as it was called, was the presentation of the first of the harvest that represented the first and best of the more to come. This is typical of Christ’s resurrection and presenting himself to God. God’s acceptance of him was the guarantee of His acceptance of the harvest or the “more to come” representing the Church. Every detail of this feast represented the perfections of Christ alone as accepted by God on our behalf such as the unblemished male lamb as a burnt offering, the food offering of the finely ground flour mingled with oil representing his purity and the wine that represented the joy of fellowship and communion with God. We call this Easter Sunday. Lev 23:9-14 and 1 Cor.15:23.
Lastly, the Feast of Weeks, or the offering of the wave loaves, represents the formation or the birth of the Church. Fifty days after the offering of the firstfruits representing the resurrection of Christ, a feast was observed that included two loaves of bread that were baked    “with leaven” and identified as firstfruits unto the Lord. Lev.23:17 This was Pentecost. On the day of Pentecost, 50 days after the resurrection of Christ, the Spirit descended and the Church was formed. The two loaves with leaven represent the Church. Two loaves represent the fact that the Church is formed from both Jew and Gentile but in Christ the middle wall of partition is broken down and now there is only one body of Christ. The presence of leaven in the loaves shows that the visible Church, though formed by the Baptism of the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ, still has the presence of evil in it.
One glorious day, and hopefully soon, Christ will return, the Church will be called up, all things written will be fulfilled, sin and death will be no more, and there will be new heavens and a new earth where only righteousness dwells.
