More than 40 participants worked together on Greer Street Saturday morning and collected a few hundred pounds of litter in just a couple of hours in a community cleanup organized by Keep Crisp Beautiful.

Doug Dean, Keep Crisp Beautiful volunteer and attorney at Lawson, Reid & Dean, LLC, which sponsored Saturday’s cleanup, said the event was a great success and that two more cleanups are being planned for the near future.

“The trash problem in our city and county impacts all of us,” said Dean. “The cleanup brought together people from all over our community to tackle that problem because we all drive the same roads, shop at the same stores, and benefit from tourism encouraged by cleanliness.  My hope is that these events inspire people to pick up trash that already litters our streets and save the garbage for the trashcan instead of tossing it out of the car window.”
