Funeral services for William E. “Billy” Medlock of Cordele were held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2020 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services with Pastors Bobby Pope and Jody McGinnis conducting the service. Chris Sercer and Donna Stripling sang “I Can Only Imagine” and “Jerusalem.” Pallbearers were Curt Keene, Randy Brown, Bo Keene, Derek Pope, Alan Sampson and Joel Gordon. The committal service conducted by Rev. Terry Ryan followed in Friendship Cemetery in Pulaski County.
Billy passed away Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Crisp Regional Hospital. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelia Marie Keene, a grandson, Corey Wade Littleton and a brother-in-law, Lee English. He was born in Tallahassee, Fla. to the late John Albert Medlock and Mamie Louise Maddox Medlock. A United States Army veteran, he was a sales rep for Jones Welding and an active member of Penia Baptist Church and the Hope Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the American Legion. Billy is survived by his wife of 41 years, Brenda Gordon Medlock of Cordele; his children and their spouses, Donnie and Angela Pope of Cordele and Robin and Wade Littleton of Sylvester; five grandchildren, Alexa (Jason) Sheffield, Derek (Monica) Pope, Katie Pope, Curt (Katlin Swain) Keene and Bo Keene; and four great-grandchildren, Elaina Sheffield, Emma Sheffield, Katherine Keene and A.J. Peoples; four brothers and their wives, Ron and Geneva Medlock of Dunnellon, FL, Bobby and Linda Medlock and Mike and Betsy Medlock, all of Albany and Tommy and Sissy Medlock of Kennesaw; and four sisters and their husbands, Marie and Bob Glover of Albany, Margaret English, and Diane and Rodney Dishman, all of Dallas and Lisa and Ron Johnson of Canton.
