Victim in critical condition, suspected shooter in custody

- A Cordele Police Department officer tapes off the entrance at the Hot Dog King and Stark's Body Shop, located at 1005 South 7th St., after a Tuesday afternoon shooting there left one local man in critical condition. A spokesperson with the Cordele Police Department identified the shooting victim as 24-year-old Jacquez Alexander, who died at approximately 3 a.m. Wednesday from his wounds.

The victim of a shooting that occurred Tuesday at around 4 p.m. outside Stark’s Body Shop at 1005 South 7th Street in Cordele is in critical condition at Crisp Regional Hospital, according to authorities.
Cordele Police say they have requested the assistance of special agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation as they continue to pore over evidence gathered at the scene of an altercation that left a 24-year-old Cordele man with a serious gunshot wound.
“Upon officer’s arrival, a suspect was placed into custody,” states a press release from the Cordele Police Department. “This appears to be an isolated incident amongst individuals that know each other and there is no further safety concern for the general public.
“This case is still very active and no names will be released at this time. We will update with further information as soon as reasonable,” the CPD release continues.
