“GBI Investigates Pulaski County Murder- Suicide

Hawkinsville, Georgia (September 4, 2019) – On Monday, September 2, 2019, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the Eastman GBI Office to assist with a death investigation. Upon deputies’ arrival, two men identified as 46-year-old Alton Douglas Bullington of Vienna and 40-year-old Justin Smith of Hawkinsville were found deceased inside of a residence located at 152 Burnt Bridge Road in rural Pulaski County near the Dooly Pulaski County line.

Autopsies were performed on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at the GBI Crime Lab in Macon. Both men died as a result of single gunshot wounds. The investigation indicates Justin Smith shot and killed Alton Douglas Bullington. Smith then committed suicide. The shootings were witnessed by a third party. The preliminary autopsy results are consistent with the investigative findings. Bullington and Smith were acquainted with each other through a mutual friend.
