Dulcie Banks Powell of Cordele passed away Monday, July 1, 2019 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2019 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services with burial following in Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the service Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m.
Dulcie, 93, was born in Orlando, Fla. and was the daughter of the late Thomas Banks and Ruby Boughtnight Banks Smith. She was retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base and was an active member of Sharon Baptist Church. She loved her family and enjoyed her grandchildren and attending gospel sings. But her favorite part of life was getting in her car and rambling around the country side sometimes to visit and sometimes to just look and ride.
Dulcie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Daniel “Jody” Powell and two sisters, Ethel Louise Williford and Tommie Carol Manders. She is survived by her children, Elouise P. Martin, Danny “Chris” Powell and Floyd Thomas (Ethel Thompson)Powell, all of Cordele; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
