The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office hosted a memorial service for community law enforcement officers who were killed in the line of duty on Wednesday at Pinecrest Baptist Church.
Memorialized were: Cordele Police Chief W.H. Forrest, who died February 16, 1909; Arabi Police Town Marshal Freeman O. Epps, who died July 9, 1938; CPD Sgt. C.H. Watson, who died October 18, 1970; CPD Sgt. W.R. Haralson, who died May 4, 1975; Georgia State Patrol Trooper J. Young, who died May 4, 1975; GSP Trooper J.F. Bass, Jr., who died February 15, 1950; and GSP Trooper J.K. Stewart, who died April 27, 1991.

CCSO Colonel Denise Youngblood welcomed the attendees at Wednesday’s Law Enforcement Memorial Service.
The Crisp County High School JROTC presented the colors at Wednesday’s service.
Madilyn Thompson sang the National Anthem and Amazing Grace.
State Representative Noel Williams, Jr. presented a proclamation honoring law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.
Rev. Tar Drazdowski presented a reading of scripture at the memorial ceremony.
CCSO Major Joey Arzola read the names and a brief bio of Crisp County law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.
CPD Captain Andrew Roufs also read the names of local law enforcement officers who died in the service of the community.
CCSO deputies, CPD officers, and GSP troopers placed a rose on empty chairs displayed in memory of the six fallen officers who were honored.
Dylan Teel performed ‘Taps’ during the ceremony.
Dan Bray with the Georgia State Patrol’s Honor Guard played bagpipes at Wednesday’s service.
Crisp County Sheriff Billy Hancock provided closing remarks.
Chaplain Stan Bowen provided the benediction.
