Mrs. Glynece Holton Lumley, age 86, beloved wife of the late Joe L. Lumley Jr., passed away peacefully on Monday morning, April 29, 2019 at High Cotton Homes in Vienna, Ga.

Born in Emanuel County, she was a lifelong resident of Treutlen County and one of five children born to the late Pierce and Bertchie Phillips Holton.

Shortly after being educated at the Gillis Springs School she married Treutlen County native, Joe L. Lumley Jr. She was a highly skilled seamstress and worked in the garment industry for many years. After the passing of her husband in 2004 she continued to successfully maintain the family farm. She was happiest when riding through the pasture to oversee her beloved cows.

Mrs. Lumley loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Cooking and serving her family and friends were two of her greatest pleasures.

She was a 75-year member of Boiling Springs Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha Ware; two sisters, Annette Henry Phillips and her husbands, Buddy Henry and Charlie Philips, LaNell Posey Peebles and her husbands, Norwood Posey and J. R. Peebles; and a brother and sister in law, Ronald and Grace Sconyers Holton.

Mrs. Lumley leaves behind two daughters, LaJuanna “Bonnie” Brown and her husband Joe of Cordele, Ga.; Teresa Cammack and her husband, Donnie of Soperton, Ga.; a son in law, Richard Ware of Soperton, Ga.; a brother, Billy Holton and his wife, Wynoka of Soperton, Ga.; grandchildren Joanna Ware Sconyers and her husband, Chet of Soperton, Ga., Ilia Durham and her husband, Steven of Bonaire, Ga., Brittany Ekkel of Cordele, Ga., Josh Cammack and his wife, Nicole of Soperton, Ga.; and great grandchildren, Hattie Claire Sconyers, Rhett Durham, Hagan Ekkel, Hunter Ekkel and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Boiling Springs Baptist Church with Reverend Gilbert Posey and Reverend Conway Jones officiating.

Mrs. Lumley will be laid to rest beside her husband in the family section of Boiling Springs Cemetery.

Serving as active pallbearers will be: Josh Cammack, Steven Durham, Doug Holton, Ronnie Holton, Steve Holton, and Chet Sconyers.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Travis Barlow, Sheriff Tommy Corbin, Ronnie Phillips, Terry Phillips, Rodney Posey, Deputy Sheriff Don Quick, and Deputy Sheriff Keith Ricks.

The family will receive friends at Sammons Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m., or friends may call at the Lumley homestead.

Special appreciation is bestowed to her caregivers at High Cotton Personal Care Home and Reflections Hospice for the compassionate and loving care given during her final years.
