The Crisp County High School tennis team finished their 2019 season this week, with big wins in the first round of the GHSA class AAA state tournament, followed by tough second round losses.

“Though the season ended sooner than we had hoped, we are very proud of our kids and how they have played this year,” said CCHS tennis coach Paula Paquette.

The Cougars started play this week on Tuesday at home in the first round of the state playoffs versus Peach County. The CCHS boys and girls played strong and came out with 5-0 victories on the day.

The Lady Cougars then traveled to Brantley County on Wednesday for the second round and went up against a tough Brantley team. Jordan Lawson had the lone Crisp victory in the 1-4 loss to Brantley.

The Cougars hosted a strong Brantley boys’ team on Thursday for second round action. Drew Braziel and Andrew Wills had the lone CCHS victory at second doubles in the 1-4 defeat.

Special thanks as always going out to Coach Junior Peeples for his endless help and dedication to the program. Also we send big thanks to our boosters/parents for keeping us hydrated, snacked out, and warm or cool as needed. We are looking forward to another successful season in 2020,” she concluded.
