CORDELE – Funeral services for Bernice Mixon Burton, age 98, will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 14, 2019 in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 10 a.m. before the funeral.

Mrs. Burton passed away Monday, March 11, 2019, at her residence. She was born in Tippettville, Ga. to Cecil Mixon and Minnie Mae Tippett Mixon. She is the widow of Lloyd Samuel Burton and also preceded in death by her son, Roger S. Burton; her siblings: Bobby “Bud” Mixon and Arcelia Mixon Tidings; and her granddaughter, Shelley Marie Burton.

 She was a member of Riverview Baptist Church but attended Smyrna Baptist Church most of her life. She was a member of TOPS and a 35-year member of KOPS. She enjoyed quilting and quilted numerous of them for family members.

 She is survived by her children: Barbara (Lin) Grant of Cordele, Cecil Lloyd (Sandra) Burton of Anderson City, Ga. and Nina Burton Hall of Dublin, Ga.; her grandchildren: Bill Grant, Margaret Ann Funk, Shawn Burton, Brett Samuel Hall and Kayla Hall; 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
