It was a very busy first full week of high school tennis for the Crisp County Cougars.

Monday the team traveled to Macon and faced a very strong Stratford Academy squad. The Crisp boys fell 0-5 and the girls went down 1-4 with the lone CCHS win being number two doubles team of Tatum Coleman and Tess Stripling.

On Tuesday, Monroe High hosted the Cougars at the ASU East campus in Albany. Both the boys and girls rebounded and went 5-0 to notch their first region victory of the season.

Boys’ results 

Singles:

Fabion Bartell (Crisp) defeated Antwan Hill 8-0

Jeremiah Bell (Crisp) won by forfeit 8-0

Nathan Willis (Crisp) defeated Ernest Christian 8-0

Doubles:

Tyler Adams/Dayshawn Collins (Crisp) won by forfeit 8-0

Daylon Collins/Andrew Willis (Crisp) defeated Jon-Tyler Hooks/Jordan Demps 8-0

Girls’ results 

Singles: Jordan Lawson (Crisp) defeated Sierra Walker 8-0

Audrey Mercer (Crisp) defeated Nadia Qualls 8-1

Hannah Cook (Crisp) defeated Kamryn Richardson 8-0

Doubles:

Brittany Bertelson/Bailey LaGrone (Crisp) defeated Altaniya Brown/LaKisja Morris 8-0

Tatum Coleman/Tess Stripling (Crisp) defeated Nyla Simmons/Caleah James 8-0

The Crisp boys kept the region wins going 5-0 over Cook County on Thursday while the girls played strong but came up short falling 2-3.

Camille Fauset (Cook) defeated Audrey Mercer 1-6, 6-1, 10-7 tiebreaker

Carley Cornelius (Cook) defeated Hannah Cook 6-4, 6-3

Doubles:

Laina Kelley/Shelby Wilkerson (Cook) defeated Brittany Bertelson/Bailey LaGrone 6-4, 6-0

Tatum Coleman/ Tess Stripling (Crisp) defeated Mary Allen Boling/Rachel O’Quinn 6-0, 6-2

Cougar tennis will travel to Adel to face the Cook County Hornets for a rematch on Tuesday, March 12, starting at 4 p.m. The Cougars will then host Monroe with a double header scheduled for Wednesday, March 13, with start time still currently to be determined.
