CCHS soccer wins two against Dooly County

The Crisp County High School varsity soccer teams opened up their 2019 season on Tuesday night in Cordele with wins against Dooly County. The Lady Cougars defeated the Lady Bobcats 10-0, while the Cougars defeated the Bobcats in the boys’ game 6-1.

Madison Waters scored four of the 10 Crisp County goals in the girls’ contest, while Markayla Henderson and Maddi Hughes each added two goals. Jo Brady and Kirin Webb finished the game with one goal apiece.

In the boys’ match, CJ Daniels and Diego Alvarez each put in two goals for Crisp County, while Davin Fryman and Trigo Acevedo scored one apiece.

The CCHS soccer teams play home games against Fitzgerald tonight, and next week they play road region games at Monroe on Tuesday, followed by home region games on Thursday night against Worth County starting at 5:30 p.m.

 

Cougar baseball wins scrimmage at Warner Robins 

The Crisp County baseball team finished off preseason preparations for the 2019 season on Thursday with a high-scoring 19-10 scrimmage game victory at Warner Robins High School.

Bailey Barfield accounted for three hits in five at bats, three RBIs and three runs scored in the game to lead the CCHS batting lineup. Toby Stripling finished the game with two hits, two RBIs and a run scored for the Cougars.

Crisp County begins regular season play with a road game on Tuesday afternoon agaisnt Peach County, with first pitch scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Following that, Crisp will play Wednesday at Perry High school at 6 p.m. The first home game of the season for CCHS is set for Friday against Westover starting at 5:30.
