Friday, January 25
The Crisp Academy and Crisp County basketball teams all played in region game action on Friday night. The CA boys’ defeated SGA on the night, but the Lady Cats fell to the SGA Lady Warriors. Both CCHS teams dropped their Friday night games at Worth County.

Wilcox County High School’s varsity basketball teams went on the road to play region games at Atkinson County on Friday night and came up with a road sweep. The Lady Patriots won their contest 58-42, and the Patriots won their game against Atkinson by a final score of 77-55.
Desmond Tisdol was the leading scorer for Wilcox in the boys’ game with 19 points to go with 13 rebounds, one assist and one steal. Jordan Brown had 18 points, four assists and two steals on the night, while Keyshawn Howard finished with 16 points, nine rebounds, five assists and five steals. Final stats for other Wilcox players were as follows: Demetric Young- nine points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals; Azavion Deans- six points, nine rebounds, one assist and one steal; Christian Freeman- three points, five rebounds and one steal; Markavian Singletary- two points and four rebounds; Jakail Crowder- two points and one assist; Cameron Patterson- two points, three rebounds and one assist; Curtis Leflore- one rebound.
The Lady Patriots took a 14-7 overall record and a 10-3 mark in region play into their game tonight at Clinch County. The Patriots were 18-2 (12-1 in region) going into tonight’s game at Clinch.
The Wilcox teams have big region home games this weekend to close out regular season play. They will host Irwin County Friday night in Rochelle starting at 6 p.m. with first place in the regular season region standings potentially on the line in the boys’ game depending on other results. Wilcox then plays Turner County at home on Saturday night starting at 7 p.m. to finish out their regular season schedule.
Dooly County’s basketball teams played region games at Marion County on Friday night and came away with a win in the boys’ game and a loss in the girls’ contest. The Bobcats defeated Marion 74-70 on the night, and the Lady Bobcats saw their 15 game winning streak come to an end against unbeaten Marion (22-0) by a final score of 62-39.
Zeff Felton put up 24 points, 18 rebounds and an assist to help lead the Bobcats to the road region win. Shamon Zanders also filled up the stat sheet with 18 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals. Other final stats from the Bobcat win were as follows: Rashad Lucas- nine points, eight rebounds, and one steal; Reggie Smith- nine points, one rebound, five assists and one steal; Jeff Felton- seven points, 10 rebounds and one assist; Eric Ivory- five points, three assists and one steal; Seve Sutton- five rebounds and three assists; Tre Davis- one rebound and three assists.
Fullington’s basketball teams both fell to tough Terrell Academy squads on Friday night. Terrell took the win in the girls’ game by a final score 55-13, and the Terrell Eagles won 68-42 in the boys’ contest.
The Fullington Lady Trojans took a 4-16 overall record into tonight’s road region game at Georgia Christian. The Trojans took a mark of 4-14 (1-5 in region) into their contest at Georgia Christian tonight.
The Trojan teams are scheduled to conclude regular season play with region home games against Grace Christian Academy on Friday night starting at 6 p.m.
Saturday, January 26
Crisp County and Dooly County squared off in Cordele on Saturday night and the teams split the contests, with Dooly winning the girls’ game and CCHS taking the win in the boys’ game. A recap of the games can be reached using this link: Crisp County basketball splits weekend matchup with Dooly
Monday, January 28
Dooly County’s boys’ team played a makeup home game against Hawkinsiville on Monday night in Vienna and came up with a 53-38 region win.
Dooly stats from the game were as follows: Shamon Zanders- 16 points, four rebounds, one assist and two steals; Zeff Felton- 10 points, seven rebounds, two assists, four steals and three blocked shots; Eric Ivory- 10 points, one rebound, and three assists; Reggie Smith- four points, four rebounds, six assists, and one steal; Jeff Felton- four points and six rebounds; Rashad Lucas- four points, two rebounds, one assist and four blocks; Tra Haugabrook- two points, one rebound and two steals; Zyquavion Wright- two rebounds; Tre Davis- one assist and one steal.
Dooly’s boys ran their record to 15-7 (11-3 in region) with the win over Hawkinsville, and they will play at Perry High School tomorrow night. The Lady Bobcats will take a record of 17-4 overall and 11-3 in region into tomorrow night’s non-region game at Perry High. Dooly then hosts Taylor County on Friday night starting at 6 p.m. to finish out the regular season.
