Rev. Emory Howell and Rev. Charles Hardeman conducted funeral services for Jackie Calhoun Anderson of Cordele at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church.
Sherry Hardeman played soft music. Tim Perry sang “Go Rest High On That Mountain” and “I Call It Home.” Kenny Sheffield sang “Wish You Were Here,” and Amy Cody, pianist, accompanied O.B. Easom as he sang “Beulah Land.” Tim Perry led the congregation in singing “What A Day That Will Be.” Burial followed in Cedar Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chris Anderson, Kanon Majors, Mack Majors, Josh Calhoun, Caleb Calhoun, Lee Wiley, Jackson Cyle Wells and Craig Perry.
Born in Cordele, she was the daughter of Shirley Perry Calhoun and the late Jack Calhoun. Jackie was an honor graduate of the University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia. As a nurse of over 40 years, she was still a current employee of Crisp Regional Hospital and an active member of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church. A talented pianist, she played for her church and for sing-alongs with family. She was an avid shopper and a “couponer” before there was such a word. Jackie loved her grandchildren and her nieces and nephews and was an avid Bulldogs fan.
She is survived by her her husband of 36 years, Larry Anderson of Cordele; two sons, Chris Anderson and Mathew Anderson and his girl friend, Brittany Ware, all of Cordele; her mother, Shirley Perry Calhoun of Cordele, a brother and his wife, Jeffery and Marilyn Calhoun of Cordele; two sisters, Juanita Wells of Cordele and Jennifer Majors and her husband, Richard of Stockbridge; and the “lights of her life”, her grandchildren, Morgan Anderson, Avery Anderson, Kaden Anderson and Allison Toms; and her beloved nieces and nephews.
