A Cordele woman is in Crisp Regional Hospital with a head wound and a local man is dead after a shooting incident Friday night at their residence at 2475 Highway 90 in Cordele.

The deceased man has been identified as 54-year-old Arthur Tissue, Jr. and the injured woman is Lisa Tissue.

Deputies with the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Tissues’ residence at around 8:30 Friday night after 911 dispatchers received information that two people there were injured from self-inflicted gunshots, according to a statement issued by CCSO. First responders found Arthur Tissue dead on the scene, but Lisa Tissue was able to walk and talk with deputies before she was taken to Crisp Regional Hospital by EMS.

District Attorney Brad Rigby responded to the scene on Friday along with agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Scene Unit. They will continue to investigate the shooting in concert with the sheriff’s office.

“This is a tragic incident especially given the time of the year for both families and all involved,” said Sheriff Billy Hancock.
