Cougars pick up first win of season at Wilcox Tip-off Tournament

ROCHELLE— The Crisp County boys basketball team knocked off Dodge County 89-58 in the Wilcox County Tip-off Tournament on Friday evening for their first victory of the young season.
Crisp County senior KJ Williams led the Cougars in scoring with 19 points and he filled up the other stat columns with six rebounds, five assists, and three steals, while shooting five out of 12 from three-point range. Ty McKenzie had a productive game for Crisp as well with 15 points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks. PJ Coleman chipped in with 13 points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal.
Final stats for some of the other key contributors for Crisp County on the night were as follows: AJ Lofton- 12 points, one rebound and two steals, Malik Hall- 12 points, four rebounds, four assists and a steal, Nathan Willis- seven points, seven rebounds, one assist, and three steals, Tubby Spivey- four points, five rebounds, six assists, two blocks and one steal, Cortez Thomas- three points, one rebound and one assist, Courtney Griffin- two points and three rebounds, Willie Poole- two points, one rebound, one assist and one steal, DJ Nixon- one assist, Damion Cross- one steal, Mar Daniels- two rebounds.
The Lady Cougars fell to Dodge County earlier in the day by a final score of 61-21.

Up next, both Crisp County teams will be on the road for games against Americus-Sumter on Friday night starting at 6 p.m.
