The Air Conditioning Technology advisory committee at South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) recently convened on the Americus campus to review program updates and discuss industry trends.

The advisory committee supports continuous quality improvement by providing feedback to SGTC faculty and staff. Air Conditioning Technology instructor Johnny Griffin briefed the committee on recent program changes, enrollment trends, community activities, and student achievements.

Committee members offered input on potential curriculum enhancements, upcoming training opportunities, emerging technologies, and employment and internship prospects for students. They also shared insights on industry salary expectations for program graduates.

Participants included Bryan McMichael, general manager of Parker’s Heating and Air Conditioning; Robert Blunt of Albany Air Conditioning and Heating; and Hunter Clements of Truman’s Air Conditioning and Heating. SGTC representatives included Academic Dean Dr. David Finley; Katrice Martin, director of institutional effectiveness and grants coordinator; Sandhya Muljibhai, WIOA coordinator; Air Conditioning instructor Mike Enfinger; and Alecia Pinckney, administrative assistant to the vice president of academic affairs.

Advisory committees serve as an essential bridge between industry and the college, helping instructors stay current with workplace expectations and preparing students for career success.

SGTC offers more than 200 associate degree, diploma, and technical certificate of credit programs. Registration for summer semester is May 20, and classes begin May 22. For more information, visit www.southgatech.edu.
