Hundreds of people and more than ninety vendors descended on Warwick, Georgia on Saturday, April 12, for the annual National Grits Festival.
Cordele Boy Scout Troop 270 has been involved since 2018, when we passed out water to runners in the Grits Run. The last few years, we’ve directed the parking of vehicles near Warwick City Hall. Our Scouts and Scouters also march in the parade around the park.
Before we called it a day, the on-duty Firefighters at the Worth County Fire Department’s Warwick Station were kind enough to spend time with our guys. They talked to the Scouts about their jobs as Firefighters and showed them around their pumper and station.
The Troop would like to thank the organizers of the National Grits Festival for giving the boys this chance to perform service for others.
Scouts who participated this year were Senior Patrol Leader Jacob Frost, Landon Atkins, Jake Atkins, Gabe Browning, and Mason Phillips. Adult Scouters helping were Scoutmaster John Frost, Assistant Scoutmaster Britt Brinson, and Troop Committee Members Brady Atkins and Merry Phillips.
If you know a boy, ages 11-17, who might like to “Live Scouting’s Adventure” or would benefit from leadership and service opportunities our program has to offer, please bring him to the Historic Cordele Boy Scout Hut most any Monday evening from 6:30-8:00. The Hut is located at 1101 South 3rd Street in Cordele.
