Jackie E. Warren, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Crisp Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Born in Pitts, Georgia, Jackie was the son of Lawson E. Warren and Myrtle Nipper Warren. He was preceded in death by four siblings: Herbert Warren, J.B. Warren, Terry Warren, and Johnnie Frank Phillips.
Jackie dedicated 30 years to the Crisp County School System, retiring as maintenance superintendent for the school bus fleet—a role in which he took great pride, always prioritizing the safety of the children. He also served his country honorably in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic.
Jackie had a deep love for the outdoors and found joy in dove hunting, creek fishing, and spending time on the farm. He especially cherished moments playing in the dirt with his grandchildren and operating farm equipment. He was well-known by family and friends for his infamous “UNcontrolled burns,” and lighthearted reflection of his spirited nature.
He is survived by his children, Randall J. Warren and Sheree W. Lewis (Darryl), all of Cordele; and their mother, Carol Warren Thompson of Cordele. He is also survived by his siblings: Larry Warren of Ocilla, GA; Johnnie Faye (Billy) Mannheim of Cary, NC; Myrtle Rowell of Irwinville, GA; and Patricia Eason of Ocilla, GA.
Jackie was a devoted grandfather to Anthony (Maggie) Brown of Arabi, Caelan (Sydney) Lewis of Cordele, Jack (Lisa) Warren of Vienna, Anna W. (Brandon) Hauesler of Arabi, He also leaves behind eight cherished great-grandchildren: Charlie Belle Warren, Abigail Hauesler, Ava Hauesler, Barrett Brown, William Hauesler, Caroline Brown, Rich (Janey) Fallaw, and Austin (Jesse) Fallaw, both of Jacksonville, FL.
Also close to his heart were his beloved fur babies, Candy and Kate.
The family suggests for those that desire memorial contributions be made to Oklahoma Baptist Church, 1015 Oklahoma Church Road, Cordele, GA 31015.
