This week, Cordele Fire Dept. and Crisp County Fire Rescue are conducting joint rope/rescue systems training with all shifts. CCFR carries life safety rope on all their engines and CFD has life safety rope on Ladder 1. The goal is for all firefighters both city and county to be familiar with equipment on all trucks and how it can be utilized. There are many opportunities for someone to be trapped in confined spaces, large ditches, manholes and waterways. We hope it never happens, but we must be prepared to act and perform effective rescues in the event that it does. Training will consist of familiarization of equipment, basic rescue system building, actually building a rope rescue system using a tripod, and performing an actual rescue from a manhole simulator located at County station 1. This is another way Cordele Fire Dept. and Crisp County Fire Rescue are working together for our citizens safety.
