On March 9, 2025, at approximately 4:14 AM, a deputy traveling eastbound on 23rd Avenue West, observed a Chevrolet Tahoe veer completely into the opposing lane of traffic. The deputy activated the emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle eventually stopped in a parking space in the parking lot of Hilltop Apartments.
When the deputy approached the vehicle, he noticed a plastic bag containing a green leafy substance that appeared to be marijuana. The driver, Tremell Wilson, was informed of the reason for the stop. Backup arrived at the scene and Wilson was told that the presence of the suspected marijuana provided probable cause to search the vehicle.
During the search, a Glock 22 Gen 4 firearm was discovered underneath the driver’s seat. A serial number check returned no record for the gun. Upon further examination of the plastic bag, it was found to contain six smaller baggies of a green leafy substance consistent in appearance and odor with marijuana. Additionally, an empty bottle of Hennessy was located in the vehicle.
Tremell Wilson, a 37-year-old male from Cordele was taken to the Crisp County Detention Center and is charged with the following:
• 3 counts of Manufacture/Possession of Controlled or Counterfeit Substance
• MFG/DIST/ADMIN/POS with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substance
• Possession of Firearm/Knife During Crime
• Possession of Open Alcohol Container
