The Cordele Police Department, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Revenue, conducted an undercover operation this week aimed at preventing the sale of alcohol to minors. This operation resulted in five businesses being caught selling alcohol to underage individuals:
– Family Food Mart (Valero) – 601 E 8th Ave
– Cordele Food Mart – 316 E 24th Ave
– Party Shoppe – 204 W 24th Ave
– OM Jai LLC (Joe’s Meat Market) – 1305 S Joe Wright Dr
– Sonny’s Package Store – 412 E 16th Ave
The Valero was also found to be selling alcohol without a license. The individuals involved in these illegal sales were cited by the police and released, while the businesses were sanctioned by the Georgia Department of Revenue.
The operation targeted 25 convenience and beverage stores in the City of Cordele, with 20 of those businesses lawfully refusing to sell alcohol to minors.
This operation was initiated in response to information received by the police department regarding the potential sale of alcohol to minors at these establishments.
Chief Jalon Heard stated, “The sale of alcohol to children poses a significant risk to the well-being of our youth. The coordinating of this operation shows that the Cordele Police Department is committed to maintaining the safety of this community.”
