Marvin Mitchell Merritt, 64, of Warwick passed away Friday, February 21, 2025, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany Friday, February 21, 2025. Born in Sylvester, he was the son of the late, John Aleck Merritt and Annie Lee Fraser Merritt. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corp. Marvin was a carpenter in the construction industry and a member of New Union Baptist Church in Worth County. He loved the outdoors and literally lived in the woods for over 5 years, living off the land by hunting and fishing and whatever it took to get by. His favorite hobby was flintknapping, which was the art of making arrow heads. He enjoyed giving them to friends and family. He also grew his own grapes and made homemade wine from his bounty to share with others. Marvin is survived by three brothers, David Merritt of Cordele, Joseph Merritt of Warwick and Mark Merritt of Arabi; six sisters, Lynda Carriveau of Albany, Everlyn Granade (Jerome) of Warwick, Janice Mathis (Jacky) of Cordele, Sarah Watson (Donnie) of Warwick, Gwen Allen of Ellaville and Rhonda Hughes (Chris) of Cordele, his best friends and first cousins, Willie Sue and Aleck; and many special nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2025 at New Union Baptist Church Cemetery, 5592 GA HWY 313. Warwick, GA. 31796 .
