Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Dean of Cordele passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on January 25, 2025 at Crisp Regional Hospital. She was 78. Born in Pitts, she was one of three children born to the late J.L. Fogarty and Marguerita McDuffie Fogarty. Her sister Sue Reppert preceded her in death. Betty was the Office Manager for many years for Dr. Willie Bennett. She was a devoted and active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She served as treasurer at the church for 25 years. She loved her Lord, her church and her church family. In return she was a treasure to the people there. Betty was an excellent seamstress and was looking forward to teaching her granddaughter Jayde to sew. She enjoyed cooking and having her family gathered around her table, to eat, talk and reminisce. One of everyone’s favorites was her Red Velvet cake. Her biggest passion in life was her family and especially beingĀ Nana to her grandchildren.She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Tommy Dean of Cordele; two children, Al McBryant (Kim Vinson) of Cordele and Monica Lynn Dickerson of Arabi; a sister and her husband, Faye and Charlie Wilder of Macon; five grandchildren, Haleigh Vinson (Josh), Brooke McNair (Cory), Chelsea McBryant (Brandi), Brandon Story and Shelton Dickerson; and four great-grandchildren, Aubri Grant, Hazel Jayde Kennedy, Journeigh Vinson and Walker Layne Kennedy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a..m. Thursday, January 30, 2025 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services with burial following in Sunnyside Cemetery.
