Gov. Brian Kemp issues executive order regarding Commissioner Royce Reeves

Governor Brian Kemp has issued an executive order regarding City Commissioner Royce Reeves.

THE STATE OF GEORGIA

EXECUTIVE ORDER

BY THE GOVERNOR:

WHEREAS: On November 12, 2024, Mr. Royce Reeves, Vice Chairman of the Cordele

City Commission, was indicted on three counts of Violation of the Georgia

Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organization Act (RICO), four counts of

Illegal Use of Communication Facility, six counts of Violation of Street Gang

Terrorism and Prevention Act, and two counts of Distribution of Marijuana;

and

WHEREAS: A certified copy of the indictment was transmitted to the Governor pursuant

to Code Section 45-5-6(b), and received on November 14, 2024; and

WHEREAS: The fourteen-day period following receipt of the indictment as prescribed

by Code Section 45-5-6(e) has passed.

Now, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO CODE SECTION 45-5-6, AND THE

AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS

HEREBY

ORDERED: That Attorney General Christopher Carr, Rodney McCord of the Griffin City

Commission, and Chad Warbington of the Albany City Commission are

hereby appointed as the review commission to determine whether the

above-mentioned indictment relates to and adversely affects the

administration of duties by Mr. Reeves such that the rights and interests of

the public are adversely affected thereby, and to make a written report to

me within fourteen days with a recommendation as to whether Mr. Reeves

should be suspended from office as required by Code Section 45-5-6(c).
